Dans un match plus serré que le score ne peut le laisser penser, c'est l'efficacité et le réalisme qui a primé : Drew Brees n'a en effet lancé que 187 yards mais il n'a fait aucune faute et a sans cesse fait avancé son équipe dans le camp adverse ce qui a permis à sa défense de s'illustrer sans jamais être sous la pression de jouer dans ses 20 yards.
